Sustainability in Colleges and Universities Across America

The growth of sustainable schools continues across America. This trend encompasses schools from Kindergarten to University. Students are increasingly interested in sustainability as indicated by the Princeton Review's Green Guide which showed that 68 percent of likely college applicants say a college or universities’ commitment to sustainability would affect their decision to attend.

As reviewed in an ED article published in early 2013, there have been exemplary efforts of K-12 schools to reduce environmental impact and costs; improve health and wellness; and teach effective environmental and sustainability education.

National Wildlife Federation's Campus Case Studies

Each year National Wildlife Federation's (NWF) Campus Ecology program publishes case studies contributed by its members and partners showcasing their campus sustainability practices and global warming solutions for the past school year (2011-2012).  NWF will release these illustrated reports in Fall 2012 in their online searchable case study database (see bottom of page for links).

This year is the 23rd Annual call for submissions from NWF which invites students to submit a case studies on their campus sustainability efforts and green jobs training programs. The August 31, 2012 deadline is rapidly approaching but it is not too late to submit your entry now.
