1. Know your audience and craft a strategy (and content) that targets them. Customize your channel to reflect your message.
2. Create a title for your videos that will resonate with your desired viewers and teasers to get people interested.
3. While it is good to link to the videos from your own website and blog, the key is to get other publishers, blogs and websites to republish your video.
4. Distribute your videos by submitting them to as many video sharing sites as possible. Post your videos on major sites like YouTube and Google Videos but also on the more specialized sites related to your subject.
5. Use all the social media networking tools at your disposal to disseminate your video.
6. Direct traffic from your video by placing your URL in your profile.
7. Include your website URL on the opening and closing sequence of your video.
8. Research a list of the Web's most watched videos on your subject and post your video as a response.
9. Create a playlist using these related videos and give it a name that contains the keywords people would enter to search for that subject. Also, use the “tags” and the “description” fields to enter additional keywords.
10. Ensure that your videos are Internet friendly. Long loading times will lose the interest of your visitors. Make sure to use a format that has a small file size and a short load time, (eg Flash).
11. At the end of the video, invite your audience to see other related video segments at your site. Include the same call to action in the video description box. (If you put “http://” at the beginning of your URL, YouTube will make it a clickable link).
12. Create a box below the video asking people to enter their names and email addresses to get the complete series of videos. Use their contact information to send them related videos, articles and tips. Stringing video segments together in series is a great way to organize and present the information.
A video sharing strategy can offer powerful results, provided you follow these simple steps.
